- the only reason why I use them is because I cannot upload traditional artwork willy nilly like some people, and I do not understand how to use the digital medias like gimp and photoshop.
i don't have a tablet
i don't have any of that other francy crap.
i use a computer mouse to draw my stuff.
i mean, yes, i'm very good at drawing original stuff,
but i can't do so on a computer.
if i had enough money, i would buy a tablet or something like that
but i cant really afford it.
i was lucky my mom could even afford this computer, and it sucks ass anyways.
i mean, it's not like i suck ass at pixeling.
trust me, i've seen others far more worse than myself.
and hell, if i could, i would ask the original artists to make bases of their work.
but y'know, we can't always do that.
if the original artist doesn't want someone to make a base of their work because they saw it, they have permission to tell them to take it down.
just saying.
bases are for people who cannot draw things well on the computer, and who also need help with body practice and anatomy.
if i never used bases, my traditional artwork would be horrible.
i learned body proportions and such from using bases.
so yeha.

And hey guess what!!! I've NEVER HAD A TABLET IN MY LIFE, ALL OF MY WORK IS BY MOUSE OR TOUCHPAD. So that argument there is invalid. Tablets are just for people who wanna go "Oh look at me im better than you cause i have a tablet and you dont"
And as for scanners, i dont even have that anymore, so you know how i get my hand drawn work onto the computer, i take a picture of it, And its alot harder to fix it up."

Honestly you don't need a tablet to draw nice. I have a friend who can draw amazingly on the mouse. All it took her was MOTIVATION and PRACTICE, along with time.

personally I don't see base art as 'Pixeling' in the slightest. Pixeling is. . . drawing something with the binary tool in SAI, or the pencil tool in paint or something. Pixeling and base edits are two separate things.

I don't think a lot of the people that make the stuff originally are interested in dA.
Just because you find an awesome picture of something on google doesn't mean that you can use it even if you can't find who to ask. It just isn't right.

I have a friend who's used bases before, and it didn't help them at all. yeah. Proves how much it can 'help'.
Its still tracing, though. I have another friend who got banned for using bases.

I also saw that nice little drawing you did. I mean, you could PRACTICE WITH THE MOUSE and you will GET BETTER, even with Paint. Ever considered that?
